AFG: Leadership

The Chairman of AFG is an attorney, widely recognized for his environmental work, whose father was born in Georgia. The Executive Director is a former special assistant in education policy to the New York City Council President. Her grandparents came from Russia and Georgia. The AFG Board of Directors and Advisors consists of Americans and Georgians from the fields of law, engineering, medicine, academia, the arts, non-profits, military, banking, business and public service. All of them have a particular interest in Georgia. They include four former U.S. Ambassadors to Georgia, a former U.S. Senator, American retired businesspeople who have volunteered their talents in Georgia, directors of international humanitarian organizations who have worked with children in Georgia, professors with an expertise in the area and an American physician in New Orleans who volunteers his time for AFG. Members of the Board also include internationally known Georgian artists: prima ballerina Nina Ananiashvili, world class set designer Georgi Alexi-Meskhishvili and renowned pianist Eteri Andjaparidze.
