The first private orphanage for the many street children in Tbilisi was created in 1995. The care, the schooling, the nurturing in this orphanage has enabled many of the children to move to homes purchased by AFG in the village of Bediani.
For over ten years, American Friends of Georgia has been providing financial assistance to both Dzegvi Orphanage and Bediani Village. AFG has helped in purchasing school supplies, bedding, food, utilities, houses and domestic animals.
In addition, our funds have been used to renovate and equip the orphanage and the residences in the village with classrooms, kitchens and bathrooms.
