Afg Continues to Support the Mercy Center Hospice - Mother Nino's trip to San Diego
Mother Nino, Director of AFG's project Mercy Center Hospice visited San Diego in August 2011 as a participant of a three-year course in the San-Diego International Palliative Medicine Fellowship Training Program.
The program enables physicians from outside North America to receive specialist-level training at a leading palliative care education and research facility without having to leave their home institutions for extended periods of time. Mother Nino's participation was possible due to AFG's fund raising efforts earlier this year.
According to the training program, participants make six visits to IMP at San Diego Hospice, during which they have the opportunity to practice and learn in a variety of settings, including inpatient hospice care, home hospice and ongoing education. The first visit of mother Nino ended in success.
“The most important thing is that people at the Institute for Palliative Medicine (IPM) are very open and strongly interested to teach you as much as they can, in order to use received knowledge in the future in your home institution. They encourage you to do your best, which really impressed me,” noted Mother Nino, the head of the Mercy center Hospice AFG is going to continue fundraising effort to support Mother Nino's next trips to San Diego.
