American Friends of Georgia Hosts a Special Evening at Queen Darejan’s Palace

In honor of the week long celebrations of 25th Anniversary of the special relationship between the U.S. Embassy and Georgia, American Friends of Georgia will host a special evening highlighting a couple of its projects.  Participants in “Skills for Life,” a program for IDP children, present a puppet show, and the Youth Platform students from Givi Zaldastani American Academy in Tbilisi exhibit photos of their work documenting and discussing the preservation of Tbilisi’s urban heritage, architecture and culture as well as their volunteering work with elderly and children. The event is hosted in Darejan’s Palace Complex at Mother Mariam’s Convent. Queen Darejan’s Palace Complex holds a significant place in Georgian history because is the last remaining Royal palace in Tbilisi and it was the home of the last true king and queen of Georgia.
