Dear Friend,
It has been a difficult year for Georgia and, for a period, an uncertain one for American Friends of Georgia. New legislation in Georgia has forced us to completely reimagine how we deliver aid to vulnerable populations.Â

At this pivotal moment, I am happy and proud to see my youngest daughter, Susan Sidamon-Eristoff, take a leadership role at AFG, continuing the work my father started in caring for those in need in Georgia. I am confident that the legacy of giving that we have built over the years is in good hands and excited to see the next generation take an active role.Â
Since our founding in 1994, your generosity has enabled AFG to distribute over $6 million in Georgia. We have directly improved lives by:Â
Founding the first hospice care program and facility in Georgia
Creating safe and nurturing communities for orphans and the destitute
Supporting education and vocational training
Supporting treatment for children with leukemia
Expanding access to vaccinations for young womenÂ
Preserving Georgia’s cultural landmarks and supporting cultural and arts organizations
Relieving the stresses of war through fundraising assistance and art therapy programsÂ
Supporting Georgia’s fledgling social service organizations Â
Encouraging a spirit of philanthropy in Georgia through programs creating awareness among young people and through our Tbilisi Gala
Clockwise from top left: Children learn about their environment at the Ecology Summer School, a young woman receives a free laptop which will help her to advance her academic goals, children at Nikozi Art Rehabilitation Center learn traditional instruments, home caregiver from Mercy Center with a patient.Â
Over the past several months, AFG has been working tirelessly with lawyers in America and in Georgia to develop new ways to provide the aid to Georgians that your generosity supports. In particular, we seek to ensure that our beneficiaries can receive much-needed funds without jeopardy in the face of new legislation in Georgia, while acting in accordance with US tax law.Â
As this challenging year comes to a close, we remain committed to the people of Georgia and need your support more than ever. Your gift assures communities across the country that despite political headwinds and legal complexities, they have not been forgotten.Â
Please help us in our mission and give generously as the year closes.
Thank you,

Simon Sidamon-Eristoff
